It is disappointing — but in no way surprisin g — that we have company down there. But what is surprising is how gigantic the poor bastard was. Holy Lord. Filled up an entire shoebox.

My wife’s family does flooring she works in the store and her dad and brother install. One of their customers just bought a house that was unoccupied for nearly a year. They originally measured for just the living room, that was back in like October. then the home owner called back and said that they need flooring in the whole house.
My father in law went over to measure again and as he took his shoes off the home owner said he should probably keep them on. Turns out they had a rat infestation. The house was still unoccupied, and when out side temps got cold the rats moved in. The exterminator had already caught one that was 18” long, and estimated there could be another dozen or so.

My parents found a dead rat floating in the toilet a few summers ago. No one’s quite sure how it got in, although it seems as though the corner the mic e seem to find on ocaision is likely. We just didn’t expect anything so big to be able to get in. It looks like it took a couple pretty hefty bites of the desiccating mouse bait package that’s down in that corner (in a circle of mouse traps) and then got under standa bly desperate for water. Whether it died from the poison or drowning would need an autopsy to determine, and no one was that invested.

We get roof rats out here. Cats do a great job at fending them off. My old pit bull used to chase and kill them as well.

Once upon a time my cat brought a mouse to present to my family while we were all watching Avengers: Age of Ultron. Family movies and what not.
That mouse, at time of delivery, was still very much alive. Before any of us could react, the cat carried out what amounted to a public execution.

Growing up we had a super lazy cat, that would catch a mouse and then hold the moust down in a death claw grip as it would squirm.
